This leisurely stroll takes you to the summit of Lake Mountain, a family-friendly mountain within a short drive from Melbourne. During winter, light snowfall can be found here for some family snow fun.
From Gerraty’s car park the track climbs for about 200 metres before levelling out to a gentle incline to the summit.
From just below the summit, a path to the Marysville lookout leaves to the west. Alternatively, from the summit you can head east to the Alps Lookout.
From the Alps lookout, it passes through an alpine bog and over several granite rock faces to reach the junction with the Snowy Hill track. Sherlocks lookout is located 100 metres along the Snowy track.
Returning to the junction, the walk continues to Taggerty Valley View and then to Gerraty’s car park via the summit.
From Melbourne, travel to Marysville via the Maroondah highway then follow the signs to Lake Mountain.
There are no fees to walk on these tracks.
