We're all about getting Aussie hikers together.

GoHike was started by Ross Poulton, a consultant from Melbourne. Ross started to track the hikes that he did in a document that was occasionally shared with friends, however without input from other hikers the document easily fell out of date.

Frustrated by a lack of decent hiking resources online, Ross started working on an online hiking route database which has evolved into GoHike. Intended as an online hiking community, GoHike lets you share routes, upload and download GPS tracks, review routes you've walked on, share hiking links, and discuss hiking with other members.

Credits

The 'look and feel' of the GoHike website, as well as the neat little tent logo, was created by Huw Wilkins of Rocketship.

GoHike's construction was massively simplified by the wonderful Pinax framework and Django, the Python web framework for perfectionists with deadlines.

Most of the beautiful little icons you can see are from Mark James' Silk Icon Set 1.3 and Yusuke Kamiyamane's Fugue Icons and for that we thank them.
